There are times it is so important to resize your images before you use them, most of all when you upload them to your own site, most hosting even the ‘unlimited kind’ has some limits including bandwidth, which is a limit on the amount of memory you are allowed to use up per month.

Page load times also affect your SEO and images are slow loading when they are too large, so for your website other than special occasions it is best to keep your images smaller at about 350px to 450px. There are of course times when it is not only appropriate to use larger images it is the only way to display those images correctly, if you can this is when it is a great idea to find a way to make them a lower resolution, or web ready something that is easy to do in an image editor like Photoshop.

Having a photo editor like Photoshop is a great idea, but what about when you cannot afford to pay for something you will only use occasionally, or only use one aspect of? Resizing and editing your images is easy when you know how, you can even do some more advanced things using this free, simple online image editor called fotoflexer.com.

In this video I take you through how to resize an image and how to add some text to it to make your own simple Facebook Covers.
